Mandatory Notices

See access conditions below.

There are multiple farms and other areas along the range where landing is not welcome. Some of these appear as very tempting LZs. Make yourself aware of where these areas are and what they look like; treat them as crossings and ensure you have ample height and alternative landings.

Mark Macdonald from the Waikato club has produced an airspace file showing these areas as special restricted zones. This is attached here in OpenAir airspace format; load this onto your instrument before flying here: WHGPC Special Airspaces - V1.01.txt.

Access Conditions

The access is through an active quarrying operation and private farm and only 4WD vehicles are permitted. Foot traffic on the access road is not permitted by the quarry operator—no walking to launch.

A locked gate restricts entry to key holders only. There are several nominated key holders within the Waikato, BoP and Auckland clubs. These key holders are familiar with the site protocols and access rules. They also manage payment of the mandatory daily access fee that goes towards access road maintenance.
