A volcanic cone smack in the middle of suburbia, an MBZ, and with limited landing options. Who's still keen to go?

Access to this site is off of the Ellerslie Panmure Highway, take Mountain road and then Memorial drive which leads to the top.

Top or slope landings are the preferred option, otherwise there is a small paddock at the base of the mountain on the southern side near the start of the Mountain Rd.

Cautions

Being located on the narrow lip of a volcano, any mistake causing you to be dragged backward is very unforgiving.

The landing possibilities at the foot of the hill are limited being a very small short paddock surrounded by trees and power lines. Top or slope landing is not easy.

This site is suitable for skilled advanced pilots only and much better friendlier sites exist for the same wind direction.

Airspace

This site is located within CTA/C and is located within the Auckland City Mandatory Broadcast Zone with height restriction of 1500 ft ASL.

If you are flying here, you must have an air band radio and broadcast your presence every ten minutes. If you can't do this then you shouldn't be in this airspace!
