Easter Fly In

Hello Hangies and Panties!

It's been an Auckland Club tradition for a long time.....the famous Easter Fly In at the Paeroa Range and/or Kaimai Range

Traditionally marking the end of the flying season, but this year we're hoping to continue the season well after Easter. After all, it kicked in pretty late, so it should continue pretty long we think!

It's always been an awesome time, with both HG and PG hanging out together, waiting, flying, drinking, laughing, swimming, and soaking.

Unfortunately, over the last years the weather has been not very kind around Easter time, so we haven't had a good one for a number of years. Last year there was one, but that was a pretty adhoc one.

So, this year, we're calling one well in advance, but as always, weather depending if it's actually gonna go ahead.

We cannot use the Waikite Valley camping ground, and the overflow on the Squash Club anymore.

Alternative accommodation, for those wishing to stay overnight, is needed. The Thermal Holiday Camp in Rotorua is pretty much fully booked, so that's a no go either.

Unless you want to book your own holiday home somewhere, that leaves two options for camping where there's plenty space.

The Okoroire Hot Springs Hotel and Camp near Tirau, and the Opal Hotsprings Holiday Park in Matamata

Both would be suitable as they give reasonable access to both the Paeroa Range and the Kaimai Range, but the Okoroire is the one most people will try to book early. So get in quick!!

The AHGPC will most likely be putting on a BBQ or some other provision of food for Auckland Club members. But an alternative could be that the Club tries to negotiate with the Kaimai landowner a one-off access fee for the weekend.

We'll decide on that later, as some details still need to be worked on.

So, mark off your calendars, start making some bookings, and do the dance to the weather gods to induce those awesome Easter time thermals, and restitution at the end of the day.

Final decisions on the go ahead of the event can and will of course, only be made closer to April 19th.
