It's almost AGM time!!
It's almost THAT time of the year again, when both hang glider and paraglider pilots voluntarily come together to exercise their democratic powers in the AHGPC Annual General Meeting. As always, there is the important business of voting for a new committee, ratifying the accounts and finding out who won the Duck Award.
When: 7.30pm, Wednesday 7th December
Where: the Wings & Waves loft, Sir Peter Blake Parade, Bayswater
It would be really good to see as many members as possible attend and hopefully put themselves forward for committee posts, as Xen will be stepping down as club president at the end of his current term and we need an equally willing and able replacement! Issues such as whether to continue with Airborn in its present form will also benefit from debate involving a wide range of club members.
As well as the formalities, there is also the Duck Award to bestow upon the club member who has made the biggest gaffe during the past year. Nominations/incriminations for pilots who have sufficiently embarassed themselves by their actions or inactions will be gratefully received at grahamsurrey@gmail.com.
Hope to see you all there!
Graham Surrey
AHGPC Secretary.

Call for Committee Nominations
Will there be a formal call for committee nominations or another shoulder tap demonstration on the day?
was that an offer? I nominate
was that an offer? I nominate Brett. :-) Eva
OK. Let's say Graham's email
OK. Let's say Graham's email is a formal call for nominations.
Now stand back and wait for the flood...
Nominate Evan and Brett
Evan and Brett for President. Graham, are you standing for secretary again?
Must be Time for a Cuppa
Can the AHGPC improve?
Yes We Can!
2011 has revealed a conspicuous lack of representation for the AHGPC.
“Skypegate”, the now infamous clipped wings “Airborn” debacle, special surveys and calls for SGM’s…
The humanity!
As your Club President, I pledge to demonstrate a potent and dispassionate leadership to our diversely wonderful free flying community and vibrant emerging democracy.
My first policy is to initiate a constitutional amendment (unilaterally and without referendum) creating the “Auckland HG/PG Federation”. The Auckland Federation will provincially self-govern and cut adrift the rudderless ship (or boat anchor) that is the current National Executive which seems more intent on trying its very best to imitate a small nation that grows bananas.
No longer should we endure fractious tedium of bush statisticians and self-serving commercialism beyond the basic club mandate of supporting the privilege to self-regulate and recreational free flight.
To this end, Eva, when and where should we have a “Cuppa Tea”?
Recording devices and Teatape production welcomed.
“Pglida”, aka Rodney Watts Hyde, may want to come and either protest or partake in some form of obsequious support. I know you also want to be President Pglida, but where are your visionary policies? And can you handle the baubles of office or will you spend the club funds like a drunken sailor?
And where we are met with cynicism and doubt and fear and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of the AHGPC in three simple words:
Yes. We. Can
I nominate the following:
Evan Lamberton; for President. (Or should this say Brett D?)
Tony Cowley; for Committee Member Position.
Jeremy Watts; newly created position of Intern Teaboy
Seconded.
Seconded.
Intern Teaboy?
I hope that's 'Executive Intern Teaboy'... I hope you realize that this could be an extremely powerful position, especialy during the vital 'Cuppa Tea' consultation process. That tea recipe could well determine the future of the club and, indeed, whether the prospective candidates are able walk away from the table (fullstop)... If I read your proposal as, in fact, a veiled invitation to join your breakaway group in your quest for local domination, then I have only one answer ... I'm in !!
ps - I'm only slightly outraged at your inference that I would spend club funds 'like a drunken sailor'... a new glider maybe (although I'm not sure club funds would be sufficient to cover this), but definately not women & booze - I try to limit them to my other club...
I don't know, Graham. Its been a long time since anyone volunteered for a second term... A snap audit of club affairs might be in order...
Secretary
If no-one else is keen on becoming secretary then I'll put myself forward for that role again.
Graham.
BYO drinks
I am getting lots of questions what to bring to the BBQ tonight.
BYO drinks, meat and salad provided.
And remember: the BBQ is at Eva's house, 26 Beresford Street, Bayswater.
