Auckland comp next weekend

A reminder that we have a local comp scheduled for Nov 19 & 20. Keep an eye on the forecasts. I will post again on Tues if its looking likely and then make a final decision on Thurs night. Waypoint files and forms will be here for download in a couple of days. We will be using airscore so make sure you know how to save an igc file from your gps.

Coastal Flying Day

If weather is not conducive for XC can this become a coastal soaring day, could be just flying upto manukau heads and back making it challenging and fun day or any task which makes it fun

Of course it can. How about a

Of course it can. How about a coastal challenge. Fly as many sites as possible in one day, using only feet or wing to get around. An Xcoast.

Waypoint files

Waypoints can be downloaded to here http://www.cloudbase.org.nz/node/364

Please do try to have them in your GPS before next weekend and since this is likely to be your first competition of the season it would be a good idea to make sure batteries are ok, everything works and you know which buttons to push.

Entry form and Emergency plan are at the bottom of the comps page here http://www.cloudbase.org.nz/comps . If you can print and fill out your own copies it will save time and my non-existant budget for the comps. There is no entry fee.

The forecast high pushing on

The forecast high pushing on to northland at the weekend gives us some hope of a flyable weekend so at this stage the comp is still on. Final call will be Thursday 7pm.

Postponed

That's what 48 hrs in NZ does. It's looking so windy now that I think the chances of getting any tasks in is too low to call a comp. Get the Bobcats out and go to the coast.

We will postpone the comp 2 weeks to 3rd and 4th Dec. That should give us all something fun to talk about at the AGM on the 7th.

It's typical for this time of

It's typical for this time of year the good flying days are few and far between. Long range for next weekends comp looks like a maybe for Saturday and not likely for Sunday. I will once again delay making a definite call on the comp until Thursday evening.

Well I hope you have all made

Well I hope you have all made other plans because its not going to be an epic comp flying weekend. I have a 15m Bobcat for sale if someone wants one.

I'll keep looking for a chance to run our regional comp, hopefully before the Nelson PGopen so we can get in some practice.
