New Arrival

Hi - I'm a PG pilot, recently arrived from the UK. I've just sent my cheque off to the NZHGPA and keen to get back in the air.
I'm looking for some guidance on flying sites - is there a Club site guide anyone can send me? I'm relatively low airtime, so would appreciate some pointers on sites for easy flying, best wind directions, "do's and don'ts" for the sites etc etc
Thanks!

Hi Ian, welcome to New Zealand! Our site guide is undergoing updating at the moment and we hope to have it online soon. In the meanwhile, especialy as you are a low airtime pilot it would be good to hook up with some people so they can introduce you to the sites. We are in the middle of lambing season as well right now so access to some sites needs to be checked on an ongoing basis. Within an hours drive or so of Auckland we have a number of coastl and inland sites that take most wind directions, but predominatley SW and NE. If you have time, go to the Wings and Waves start of season party this evening. You will be able to meet many people there that I am sure would be happy to show you the sites. See the post earlier for details. look forward to seeing you on the hill.
Cheers,

Xen.

Re: New Arrival

Hi Ian

You are welcome to give me a call any time you are thinking on going for a fly.

You should also receive a site guide by post in the mail as soon as the cub receives notice of your membership, however if you want you can email or call our secretary, Carlos Palmer, (see the 'The Committee' link on the left for his details) and ask to have it sent through sooner.

Re: New Arrival

I've just arrived in Auckland from the UK too, keen to get to know the sites and local pilots. Had some of my best flying in Queenstown on Darren's old wing back in 2000 and now back in NZ for good :D

Cheers, Jon
