When is the best time for flying in New Zealand

Hi there,

I am a keen young paraglider pilot from the UK, and I'm really hoping to visit New Zealand from October this year at least for the duration of the summer. I would like to base myself in Auckland, and it looks like you have some fantastic sites around the area. I was wondering if anyone could advise me as to the best times of year for consistent flying conditions in Auckland (as well as the rest of the country)? And how consistent is the weather for paragliding?

Many thanks for any advice you can offer- Ed

Hi Ed,

Typically the cross country season starts in October (although spring is also the windiest time of the year so it can be weeks

between flights if your not lucky). The best time for consistent coastal and cross country flying is Jan - Mar when it

sea breezes most sunny days.

There are several midweek pilots and a couple of schools so there is always someone to point you in the right direction.
Cheers
