Hi

Anyone interested in helping me gain flying access to this hill?

Maybe someone has flown it, or knows the owner.

Or maybe someone is keen to come on a recce next time there's a nice Sou'easter. Its just over an hour North of the Big Smoke.

I travel up to Kaiwaka on a regular basis and know a couple of business owners in Kaiwaka so will make some enquiries Tony. Looks good.

I might be off the mark here,

I might be off the mark here, but that looks like Pukekaroro Scenic Reserve (formerly Maungaturoto SR).

It is Crown land (Dept. Of Conservation), and is currently negotiated under the Treaty Settlement, with Te Uri o Hau.

The top third of the reserve is an urupa, an area of high significance for the local iwi.

Might be a hard one to negotiate.

Thanks Stefan

Hopefully its not.

As far as I can tell Pukekaroro Scenic Reserve is on the Eastern side of SHW 1.

The hill I am looking at is on the Western side. It looks like it is farmed, maybe even with an airstrip, which might indicate its not of "historical significance".

High Tension Power lines look more likely to be the killer.

But who knows?

New Site

Hi guys, you don't know me and I don't fly (yet) but the identification of that site caught my interest.

I reacon it is private land owned by someone Steven O'Brien (not me), address 122 Mountain Road Northland though he may not live there. Hope it helps.

Kind regards,

Steve
