Moirs starting to turn it on?
Early days but sounds like Moir Hill is getting the trashing it deserves. There is Jeff of course, he who loves to have water below him.
My goal last year was to cross the Dome at the western end - I failed. But last Saturday I managed to check out that part of the forest and was pleasantly surprised - very scenic! Unfortunately the westerly sea breeze was howling in from the Kaipara so I got drilled and had to down wind it to Tomorata but a nice fly all the same. A low base on Sunday didn't stop me getting to Matakana where my old boss (I used to work in Matakana) saw me land.
So I hope I don't put a hex on things but this coming weekend looks likely to be SW as well - bring it on.
Watch this space, I'll post here on Friday if I'm heading up there on Saturday.

p.s On Saturday Carlos took-off 15-20 mins after me. I flew to Tomorata, packed up, hitched to turn off, got another ride in to car, ran in for trolley, drove back to pick up glider, drove back to Puhio and rang Carlos. He had not long ago landed and was now half way up the hill to retrieve vehicle. That man deserves the "hang in there 'til the bitter end award" soring Moir Hill for around 3 hrs!

Moirs on Saturday
Sunday looks likely to be blown out for Moir Hill. Saturday looks like the day to go although XC Skies suggest low bases as it did last Sunday - and it was right on the money!
Any Para pilot that wants to leave a car at the intersection can meet me early - around 9.45am.
