Annual General Meeting

Notice of Annual General Meeting

To be held at 6.30 pm, 27th November 2009,

The Loft, 4 Sir Peter Blake Parade, Bayswater, Northshore.

How do you know it’s the start of the season? It’s AGM time!!

This year we have decided to combine our Annual General Meeting and our Xmas BBQ together in to one never to be forgotten event! (Just like last year!!!).

Once again, Wings and Waves have generously offered us the use of their facilities at The Loft. It’s a great spot to have a beer and a bite while watching the sun go down.

We will kick off the evening with the AGM agenda and move on to the BBQ as soon as we have things wrapped up.

Please review the AHGPC Accounts beforehand as you will be asked to approve them at the AGM (click on the "Read more" link below and then look for the PDF document at the bottom of the page).

This year there are a couple of extra things your club committee would like you to have a say about. That is nominations for the…

  • “Flying Spirit” award for outstanding contribution by a club member to the activities of the club or in the sport of hang gliding or paragliding.
  • “Duck” (or should that be the, “oh, *uck !!” award) for the most noteworthy flying related “activity” that none of us would be proud to talk about!!
  •  Crash of the Year for …….. well, the name says it all.

Award Nominations

Members are invited to nominate persons for these awards and briefly state their reasons on the nomination form on this website. Please submit a separate nomination form for each award.

Note you have to be a club member to submit a nomination and we have to grant member privileges to your web site account. Therefore, if you cannot access the nomination form then please contact the webmaster and provide your web site login name and NZHGPA PIN.

When the nominations are in, a selection committee will be appointed to choose the winning candidates and make the presentations during the AGM to be held on 27 of November 2009. So get cracking the deadline is November 20th, 2009. It could be you!

Remit to increase our club fees from $20 to $30

Leslie's picture

The losses we have made in the last 2 years are unsustainable. $3000 in 2007/8 and $4000 in 2008/9.

Based on an average of these figures we would need an increase to $34/member to maintain an equal balance sheet.

Given that there was a major purchase (weather station) in 2008/9 year, we could probably get away with $30/member/year.

This increase would not provide any additional funds to our club until about Jan/Feb 2011 as our income is already set on fees currently being collected.

Current club funds are @ $8000.

By this time next year they will probably be @ $5000.

This does not give us much latitude to do anything except survive.

fees

The accounts seem pretty straight forward.  I'll be moving that we increase the fees to a reasonable level.  I spend more on parking meters in a week than I do on club membership.

Perhaps one of the reasons we have such low involvement levels is because most members don't care what happens to such a small amount.  Make it something bigger and more of them might come along to make sure it's well spent!.
