Moirs Hill up and running

On Sunday a few of us went up to Moirs to put up a new gate through the fence.

It was a windy rainy day so no chance to fly and therefore we got a lot of work done.

There will be no need to climb the fence any more.

We also have fixed up the weather station at long last. So the information it gives now should makes more sense.

The number is  0212860472

Moirs is already for the upcoming season.

Moir Hill Track

Well done.

I was up at the end of the road today and noticed the DOC "this facility is closed" yellow tape across the track entrance.

Do we know how much of a problem this tree is to get around?

Could we volunteer to help with the clearing/rerouting of the track?

I have just spoken to DOC and they are happy for the tape to come down.

Can the next person there please take it down.

The humungus pine tree that has fallen across the track will not be moved. Instead we have arranged with DOC to re route the track around the tree. DOC rangers have already cleared the area of the new track of any fallen branches etc, so it is good to go for foot traffic right now. We will want to put on a working bee to improve the track to make it a bit easier for the hangies and the trolleys and for that we are looking at getting a grant for some pd workers to help out with that.

The yellow tape is there for the public. We are okay to go through. Right at entrance to the bush we have permission to clear a couple of trees to make it easier for the hangies to get the gliders through.

Cheers,

Xen.
