1st fly in new glider

Finally, after over a year waiting, I got to fly my new hang glider!
It was back in April 2006 that I placed my order for a new Wills Wing 145 U2. Then the next month, May 2006, I fell off my push bike and broke my leg ( 2 fractures to left femur). My new glider arrived in the country in July 2006. I'm on crutches and not even able to load bear on left leg. I left it with the dealer for as long as possible then have it freighted to Auckland November 2006. I'm still hobling about but at least able to drive to freight depot to pick it up. Since then it's been in storage at mate (Marks) place. In May 2007, 1 year after my accident, with some help from Paddy and others, I have my 1st fly at Kario on one of Paddy's training gliders. It was great to be airborne again but 20minutes of fresh conditions in a low performance glider was tiring enough. The next week I'm back in surgery having some screws removed. This was a setback physically so it's some time before I feel fit enough to try flying again. Then finally, 2 weeks ago, I get to fly my new glider 18 months after ordering it. It was beautiful to fly. Very responsive, easy handling, good acceleration. I could even manage to 360 with full VG on. It was 1 1/2 hours of some of the most enjoyable flying I have done a Kario. A lot ot do with the appreciation of being free to fly again and the luxury of having a nice glider to fly. Hope to see you in the air. I'll be the one with the big grin on his dial.
