Easter at the Paeroas!! April 10 - 14th.

Yes, it is time once again for the annual pilgrimage to the Paeraos for another fabulous flying fest.

We will follow the same program as last year with a fun comp over the four days and a bbq on the Saturday night. BBQ is free for club members (BYO drinks) and $5.00 for non members. If you know any non members that want to join in ask them to see me by Friday night.

The fun comp details have not been finalised yet, but there will probably be the option of a XC Open type task where you fly where YOU want and we score the maximum distance (no, not zigzaging back and forth along the hill!) or flying to predetermined waypoints. The fun comp can be a great way to get some experience on using your GPS for flying to turnpoints, understanding cylinders and scoring a flight. Don't be afraid to ask some of the more experienced pilots on tips about the site, use of instruments or whatever. They are especialy talkative when shown a frosty beer  I am told! The fun comp is for HG and PG. If you want to take part in the fun comp  you can prepare by downloading the waypoint list and airspace maps from the competitions page and airspace project page.

Should it be better to fly another site, such as the Kaimais, we may drive there for the day but we will return to Waikite for the night. Last year we didn't have to do that but hey, if you want to fly, you have to drive.

We will once again be based at the Waikite Thermal resort. To reserve a spot and for directions check out their website. http://www.hotpools.co.nz/  In the event that they are full (likely) the kind folks from the Waikite Squash club next door, have once again extended the offer of the use of their grounds for camping and parking. This is great, as without their help about 20 tents would have had to find another place to camp last year. This offer comes with the understanding that anyone camped on their site MUST still pay the Waikite Thermal resort camping fees. For this you get to use all their facilities such as the pools, showers, etc. Please make sure that you do go and pay for the duration of your stay. 'Nuff said.

We will be accepting donations to go to the Waikite Squash club as a token  of our  appreciation for the use of their site and also to contribute towards the emptying of their skip which we used liberaly last year!

Other than that, pray to the weather gods and see you there!

Xen,

El Presidente.
