I just got this from Rick from the Waikato club. Please read and abide by what it says. If anyone has any further to add please let everyone know via this topic.
Cheers,
Xen.
All,
A long story short.
Recently the flying community has fallen out of favour with the Managers of the access road up to the Paeroa Range in the Rotorua area. The gate has been permanently locked preventing any access. I am currently negotiating a return of our continued access, via the road which they maintain.
I am now the Main and First Point of Contact between Kordia and our use of the road up the Paeroa Range.
In order to convince them that we are trust worthy users of the road, I have discussed the historical use and associations we have had with the previous land owners with them, at length. They have provisionally agreed to return access to us upon the following terms. I have also discussed our continued access with the land owner.
Until further notice the site is closed.
Signs have been erected stating the site rules and instructing that the gate above the half way paddock MUST be kept locked at all times. The site rules sign is located at the first gate to the farmer's property, the second sign will be located at the locked gate. I have attached a copy of the signs.
A new, Marine Rated combination lock has been purchased and will be put on the gate chain. There will be a new combination on the lock, you will need to ring one of the Site Contacts below to gain the new combination.
A log book is to be filled out by all pilots using the site every day. This is situated at the first gate to the farm property, close to the site rules sign. It is housed in a Green Letter box affixed to the side of the gate post. The required info is, Date, Name, Vehicle Rego, Club, and Time Out.
EVERYONE needs to fill this out every day.
4WD Vehicles are mandatory. No 2WD vehicles, Front or Rear drive only are not permitted. There can be no exceptions.
Land owner permission is required before you turn up to fly as there are locked farm gates. Ring one of the Site Contacts below to find out the Site Protocol.
This is probably the best site in the North Island. Not unlike any other site in the country, our flying code of practice is to ring a Local Pilot Before flying another club's site, every time. This is so any current special site requirements or restrictions can be communicated.
When I have negotiated return of access to the Paeroa Range, I will email the above names and addresses. Until further notice the site is closed.
