Saturday looking a little

Saturday looking a little windy but Sunday may be ok. Check in by phone at 9am tomorrow (Sat) just in case we can go somewhere. Sites are likely to be Gubbs farm or Five Fingers, both north of Auck for you Waikato folk.

Five fingers?

The forecast is W 15kn, cloud and showers becoming isolated late morning so it's worth a go. We are meeting at the Autobahn cafe on the northern motorway near Silverdale off ramp at 1045.

Day 2 and a proper task

The forecast said 15kn WSW so Moirs had to be on. First of all a work party led by Nick attempted to get the weather station up and running. A few technical problems meant we have to go back to that one unfortunately.

It was a little stong at times but everyone got off safely in the lulls.  Trevor and Chris  wisely decided not to test their launch skills as the wind picked up and Janice was happy to have their company and some help carrying the ladder out. The task was an elapsed time race 24.5k to Takatu Pt.  Just drifting with the weak climbs after take off and enjoying the view, with a tail wind of 26km it didn't take very long. Robbo won in a time of 41min with Evan second at 50 mins and Nick a little more scenic flight at 1:18. Xen decided that getting one good look at his glider between him and the horizon was enough for one day so he landed at 20.8k. And Jeff? Well, it was good of him to make those encouraging comments as we flew over. Brendon made his first trip over the back at Moirs and Wayne kindly landed next to the cars to make a start on retrieval.

After a little detour to check out Nicks landing spot we headed to the Warkworth pub to download tracks and tell the stories. A fun day, thanks to Janice for being our launch marshall yet again and congrats to Robbo.

Final scores  will be posted as soon as I get  a working version of the spreadsheet  back from Kat.

It was a lot of fun. Even

It was a lot of fun. Even the weeding we did on launch. Great to see so many enthusiastic pilots out there. Roll on the 7th for League 2!!

Results

Task briefingTask briefingResults have been posted on the competitions page. Despite a ripping good task the max score is only 350 due to a low turnout and fast times. So for league 2 lets have more pilots, especially slow ones.
