Puketutu site record set !
Posted November 21st, 2008 by Anand
No not me.... what did I achieve? A retrieve of 120kms (Bombay to Waingaro hot pools) to pick up Jeff and back.
Jeff should load his flight in leonardo later tonight so it has to be 60kms plus with his landing somewhere close to raglan harbour.
Well done again Jeff.
Regards,
Anand
Dragged away from the Waingaro pub
Thanks for the posting Anand, and also for the retrieve - I owe you a million, well at least a dozen.
The flight distace was 64.2Km. I was a bit lucky with a few low saves towards the end.
You can check out my flight at http://www.paraglidingforum.com/modules.php?name=leonardo&op=show_flight&flightID=149422
I did say I wouln't go back to Puketutu in a hurry but a couple of days have gone past and it was such a great flight along the Waikato river. I think it is very possible to break the 100Km mark from this site with a bit of luck.
Thanks again for the pickup Anand - I would have been at the pub a long long time.
Next Time
Hi Jeff,
It is the getting away from the puketutu hill which is a challenge. And also wish we could have some landing options other than top landing at the site.
Watching you work on the thermals at take off was was quite a learning expereince.
With all the airspace restriction around Pukemore, Puketututu may see more frequent visit, no ruling out the site.
Next weekend 29th Nov looks good at the moment hope it stays a flyable weekend.
