NZHGPA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The NZHGPA AGM will be held in Auckland on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September 2008 at the Parnell Trust venue centre commencing at 9.30am.

This is a great opportunity for AHGPA members to have their say regarding any matters they wish included in the meeting agendas as AGM remits or items of business for the Special Exec. meeting. Nominations for executives is also being accepted at this time.

AHGPA can be represented at the AGM by six delegeates. We currently have two delegeates in John Burton and Xen Zambas. Any other members who wish to attend the AGM can do so by expressing their interest in this post. Although the AGM is no picnic it is very worthwhile attending to gain an appreciation for the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep us all flying in relatively free skys.

About 30 people are expected to attend the AGM, coming from all parts of the country. In order to keep costs down, if anyone has space to accomodate any of the delegates for an overnight stay please let the club know through this post. It will be very much appreciated.

Please have a read of the attached AGM notice and Nomination form. The forms can be used to nominate anyone to the national executive. I have been asked if I will stand for the role of Paragliding Operations manager, which i am happy to do.

Cheers,

Xen Zambas,

Club Presidente.

AGM went well

Hi All

I attended the AGM as an observer, and my overall impression was that it went very well.  We had multiple nominations for all but the President's role, with the Vice-President's position a very close contest.  Xen won the vote for the Paragliding Operations Manager, which is fantastic.

The remit to remove the prompt payment discount was defeated, and the remit to increase the fees $5 / member passed.  This appeared to be a reasonable compromise but will leave the national association with a tight budget for the year.

I'm sure the complete minutes will be available on the nzhgpa site sometime soon.  If you ever wonder where all the money goes, I really encourage you to read them.

Thanks to everyone who came along, it was a very positive meeting.
